The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is a professional Twenty20 cricket league in Pakistan composed of 5 member clubs representing cities. Headquartered in Lahore, the PSL is widely considered to be the premier professional cricket league in Pakistan. The PSL Cup will be awarded annually to the league playoff champion at the end of each season.
The Pakistan Super League will be organized in 2016 from 4 Feb To 24 Feb and will replace the existing Haier T20 Cup. The league will draw many highly skilled players from all over the world, and currently has players signed from approximately 11 different countries (9 Full and 2 Associate Members). Pakistani players will constitute the majority of the players in the league.
The early commercial rights of franchises were sold out for US$93 million for the span of 10 years in December 2015.
Franchises
According to Initial reports, around 20 parties shown interest in buying franchises.Shoaib Akhtar the former Pakistan fast bowler has expressed his interest in owning a franchise. Javed Afridi, the CEO of Haier, has also shown interest in owning a franchise. On October 18, 2015 PCB offered tenders for bidding the franchises. According to statement by PCB, the bid winners will be granted right of each franchise for a term of 10 years. The interested parties had to apply for bidding before November 15.According to a press release, the interested bidding parties include ARY Media Group, Omar Associates, Arif Habib Group, Haier, Mobilink as well as two foreign groups including Venture Capital of UAE and Qatar Lubricants Company (QALCO).All the 5 franchises for the PSL were sold on December 3, 2015. Several companies bought the bidding documents, but only seven presented formal proposals, which also included companies from the Middle East.
The early commercial rights of franchises were sold out for US$93 million for the span of 10 years in December 2015.The PSL's title sponsorship goes to Pakistan's Primary bank Habib Bank Limited.Karachi became the most expensive team with the ARY Group shelling out $26 million to gain ownership.

Players Draft
According to Najam Sethi, there won't be any player auction. Instead the 308 players, including foreigners, will be picked through a draft. Each franchise has a salary-spending cap of $1.2 million, including the signing of players, coaches and support staff. A total of 16 players will be picked up from five different categories - Platinum($190,000), Diamond ($65,000), Gold($47,000), Silver($28,000),& Emerging($25,000).Each team will have a right to pick five foreign players, with only four allowed to make it into the playing XI. Each of the five PSL teams will get one selection per round to pick a player, and there will be 16 rounds.
On December 10, PCB announced that there are 308 players part of the Pakistan Super League Draft. 137 players from Pakistan, 59 players from England, 38 players from West Indies, 22 players from Sri Lanka, 10 players from Australia and Bangladesh, 7 players from South Africa, 6 players from Zimbabwe, 5 players from New Zealand, 4 players from Ireland, 3 players from Afghanistan, 2 from Canada, Scotland and USA while 1 player from UAE are listed in Draft which will take place in 21-22 December.
